Sari Hanafi

Sari Hanafi est actuellement professeur de sociologie, Directeur du Center for Arab and Middle Eastern Studies et responsable du Islamic Studies program à l’Université Américaine de Beyrouth.

Il est le président de l’Association International de Sociologie. Récemment, il a créé le “Portal for Social impact of scientific research in/on the Arab World” (Athar). Il est également le directeur de publication de Idafat: the Arab Journal of Sociology (Arabic).

Par mi ses derniers ouvrages : The Oxford Handbook of the Sociology of the Middle East, Knowledge Production in the Arab World: The Impossible Promise. (avec R. Arvanitis). Il a reçu en 2014 le prix Abdelhamid Shoumanen et en 2015 le Kuwait Award for social science. En 2019, il est devenu Doctor Honoris Causa de l’Université nationale de Nationale San Marcos (la première et principale université de Lima- au Pérou – fondée en 1551).
