Ann-Sophie Hemmingsen’s primary research area is Danish residents and citizens who are associated with violent activities justified by references to Sunni Extremist ideologies.
Her approach focus on issues such as group dynamics, social practices, identity, and attractions and am particularly interested in the interactions between environments in Denmark and environments in areas torn by conflict.
As a natural extension, her secondary research area is the measures to prevent and counter terrorism (CT) and violent extremism (CVE) including those aiming to facilitate disengagement and reintegration.
Since 2007, she has advised Danish government and authorities on both areas and engaged in training frontline staff.
