Tarik M. Yousef is a Senior Fellow in the Global Economy and Development program at the Brookings Institution and the Director of the Brookings Doha Center.

His professional career has spanned the academic arena at Georgetown University and the Harvard Kennedy School, and the public policy world at the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the UN Millennium Project.

He has a PhD in economics from Harvard University. His research has focused on the political economy of policy reform, the challenge of youth inclusion in the Arab world, and the economics of political transitions. He has contributed more than 75 articles, chapters and reports, and co-edited several volumes including “After the Spring: Economic Transition in the Arab World” (Oxford University Press, 2012) and “Public Sector Reform in the Middle East and North Africa: Lessons of Experience for a Region in Transition” (Brookings Press, 2020).
