Dr. Angela Muvumba Sellström is a senior researcher at the University of Uppsala’s Department of Peace and Conflict Research. She is the principal researcher for the three-year project (January 2016 – December 2018), “Disciplining Fighters: Understanding Armed Political Actors’ Control of Sexual Violence”, funded by the Swedish Research Council and has participated in Lisa Hultman’s (Associate Professor and Wallenberg Academy Fellow) project “Ending Atrocities: Third-Party Interventions into Civil Wars” and research at the Nordic Africa Institute (NAI) on elections and democratization. Muvumba Sellström has over 15 years of policy research experience on peace and security issues in Africa. Between 2005 and 2014, she directed or carried out programmes at the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) and the Centre for Conflict Resolution (CCR). She has been political officer in the Office of the Chairperson at the African Union Commission (2004-2005) and senior programme officer at the International Peace Institute (IPI) (2000-2004).
